Africa Global Aviation Safety & Security in Light of September 11
Norman Mlambo
In this paper, Dr Norman Mlambo explores the issue of aviation safety and security, with specific focus on Africa. The author presents a historical overview of aviation security and goes on to examine the reaction to this issue after September 11 attacks on the United States. The question of what can be done to address aviation safety and security in Africa is also covered, along with a brief examination of what is being done by various African countries to counteract the threat of terrorism. Dr Mlambo makes use of qualitative analysis and a variety of informed sources, based on his extensive research on the topic. The paper is systematically organised and comprehensive in its coverage of the issue of aviation security, both historically and current, particularly in relation to Africa.
