Dear All

Magubane at 80: the celebration of a life”. The conference will be held at the Human Sciences Research Council, and the opening dinner on 26 August 2010, at Freedom Park, in Pretoria, South Africa.

This international conference will bring together researchers, policy makers, and members of civil society organisations in dialogue with each other.

The life and scholarship of an individual such as Prof Magubane, who, as part of a larger collective, has given so much to the national liberation project and building an African scholarly community as a committed intellectual is worth celebrating. This is even more so when the individual turns 80 years of age.

The scientific agenda of the conference and its topical focus will be on:

a)    The production of knowledge by Africans and the production of knowledge on Africa; and

b)    The contributions of human and social science to innovation and development in Africa.

We would be greatly honoured if you would present a paper at this event. .

Should you want to participate as a speaker, please send us an abstract of about 500 on or before Friday 16 July 2010. The deadline for completed papers of around 7,500 words is 15 August 2010.
