The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) became an important partner for AISA in the past year. In September 2010, AISA and DIRCO organised a SADC regional diplomacy workshop in Tshwane. The preliminary workshop resulted in a report and recommendations being crafted, which have been circulated for comments. The follow-up event targeted the development of a firm commitment by SADC members on cooperation towards joint diplomatic training and regional diplomacy, in order to support regional integration and create SADC oriented diplomats. AISA assisted with logistical support and has been appointed by DIRCO as the secretariat for the workshop and ongoing initiatives stemming from it.
